In this morning's paper looks like some wasps survived the low air pressure in an air shipment of Christimas trees...as xmas trees shipped in by Matson which have also had dead wasps found by inspectors. ...I wouldn't have thought that there will be any residual danger, but ..... this isn't a subject for uninformed hunches. To really satisfy your concerns, I would contact a pest control firm or your local health authority for guidance. If you have deep concerns, then maybe the sandbox should be consigned to history? If the wasps found it once, they will probably find it again.

Paper Wasps

First warm day in quite a while. I'm seeing lots of paper wasps flying around but no nests yet. Do you figure these are overwintering queens (non-stinging) looking for nesting locations? I'm terrified of wasps as I'm extremely allergic. I'd like to get aggressive with them - chasing down and spraying - but I don't want to push my luck.
