I have had good experience with the email help for WU as well. In fact I have one working now on an issue trying to install SP1 RC on a Vista x86 installation on my test box. It doesn't matter whether your copy is retail, OEM, MSDN, or TechNet when it comes to WU update issues. The WU team takes them all.
