They got banned from the roads here after some government department did tests on them and found that they all had a braking defect which caused them all to veer away from a straight line under braking. And on full lock the tyres rubbed the brake pipes. -- Tony the Dragon

I was following a Transit van on the M4 a few years ago when it suddenly veered hard left across one lane (fortunately without hitting anything) and acros the hard shoulder where it bounced onto its two nearside wheels as it hit the bank. Then it veered hard right across all three lanes until it bounced off the crash barrier. But then it carried on as if nothing had...

... chain of events, and I also expect that the actual cause will be nothing that's been mentioned by the media so far. Temperature probe - yeah - right. Very unusual in my recollection for a (young!) a/c to veer away catastrophically from a dead engine in good conditions on t/o. Implies something very bad happened, and of course you're right - it would be a chain of events. Reminds me of the Concorde. Hmph - come to that, it ...

"A squadron of pigs in tight "diamond nine" formation fly across the City of London, up The Mall and over Buckingham Palace veering off to land in Hyde Park where they await their next mission over Catford." -- Tony the Dragon
