...gets over 100 in Little Rock; but 100 miles north, under the forest canopy at my place, it topped out at 84. Down in the canyons, at 80, with summer morning lows in the 50's. You dont need AC, and with electric rates rising, that's a big deal. But no telling what Global Warming will do. AR & OK have been dry in the summer, but now, monsoonal rains are coming North out of TX and LA, and of course we saw a lotta rain as hurricanes came...

... Schaffner at Pollster.com: http://www.pollster.com/blogs/the_changing_partisan_landscap.php Not all states keep track of these data, but in six of the seven states included in the analysis, Democratic registration is on the rise, while the number of Republican loyalists appears to be declining. But even those numbers don't tell the whole story. As Time Magazine reported, younger voters -- people under 35 -- a demographic in which ...

... millions of ordinary people who have suffered harm, not just wealthy insiders; and that should be the price of a deal. And for a couple of years and maybe more, deficit spending is going to have to rise sharply -- there is no other way to recapitalize banks and to prevent a cratering of the wider economy. Despite bipartisan deficit phobia, temporary large deficits are far superior to the alternative -- a second great depression. But ...

...It's that the prices of everything go up, but jobs go down. Prices go up, but jobs go down. People buy less, they hire less. And over time, society gets stretched on the rack of the pain of prices continuing to rise, and jobs continuing to fall, and good people get voted out of office. That's what happened to Jimmy Carter, and it could happen to your nominee. There's only one way out of stagflation, and that is to get energy prices down...

... for a new age of renewable energy. This year Alaskans will receive a dividend check of some $2,000 for every man, woman and child. Palin requested that the legislature add another $1,200 to offset rising energy prices. Most legislators agreed. The check, to go out in a couple of weeks, will certainly boost her popularity before the presidential electioin, and Alaskan households are definitely hurting because of their high energy prices....

However on a small scale, Enron gave a good glimpse into the basic flaws and with the taxpayer 'bailout' many of the core flaws will just be hidden, renamed and lay in wait to rise again, I am afraid. No, the consumer is not to blame. Some consumers have always been stupid, greedy and unwise but that is exactly why a banking SYSTEM is in place to begin with, to guard against this and certainly not ...

... of vast amounts of oil reserves since the early 1900's, and when that tap runs out or slows significantly, so do we. In 1900, there were about 1.2 billion or so humans on this planet.
