... FDIV bug came out, some test programs failed to detect it, doing the constant division expression as software emulation. I could imagine more differences in the results of compile time and run time intrinsic functions. Another reason not to do equality testing of floating point values. -- glen

...semplicemente ad un database. Le forms le crea all'occorrenza e dopo le distrugge. Forse dipende dal file di database che è troppo grande? 70 Mb. L'eseguibile è di 3,2 Mb. Non uso run-time packages. Cos'altro serve per risolvere il problema? Grazie, comunque per l'ìnteressamento (sempre gentile, come al solito).

... values to names, these values can be functions, and most of the time they are. In that sense, a language is 'purely' functional, if it doesn't allow reassignment at run-time. If a function can return different values at each call, then this is such a reassignment, because then a name stands for a different value (or function) each time. Not allowing that to happen is what we call 'referential transparency'. So...

This should be tackled by defining an interace; then the public can help in provided run-time operating-system dependant device access libraries. I don't see that the Fortran committees have ever ...

...be able to catch are pretty much all things that can be diagnosed at compile time. There aren't any run-time error diagnostic requirements that I can think of (but see 4 below). A "nice" system might be...up things critical to the error handling code (either yours or the systems). Now maybe you've got run-time bounds error checking turned on so that this one shouldn't happen, but that's back to a...
