But on news.gmane.org there aren't the classical usenet hierarchies like alt.*, comp.*, de.* and such. To read those, you need another server. ... So that's one death per 60,000 drivers per year. And that's ignoring the single-vehicle crashes, where the dead driver/ rider is the only person involved, which many fatals are. Oh - and the 3,500 also includes those who choose to commit suicide on the roads - such as the cases over Xmas of the mentally ill guy who murdered his wife then drove into a tree with his seatbelt undone and the woman who walked onto the M3 in her pyjamas.
