The full name of the plant used for this tea is Hydrangea macrophylla var. thunbergii (aka Hydrangeae Dulcis Folium) and a Google search shows that its leaves contain substances that are positively anti- diabetic, liver-... available in Korea. In cold months I fill them with pine cones and dried hydrangea and stick in trimmings from evergreen trees. The clippings ultimately turn brown, but they still make a nice winter display.
