..., not an excuse! It might be worth plunking down five bucks to buy the Star Trek Sketchbook which has a lot of little tidbits on who designed what and what they were thinking of when they did it. The only thing I didn't like about the book was that it had a fair amount of info on Wah Chang, the "inventor" of the tribbles, the Vulcan harp, and other things but too little information on the Vulcan harp itself.
