... article on Forth by Stephen Pelc appeared today on Dr. Dobbs website. Great article! I thought the article was interesting but it seemed that the flow was a bit off-kilter [...] Jean-Francois Michaud The article at http://www.ddj.com/embedded/210600604 was interesting and valuable enough for me to link to it from http://mentifex.virtualentity.com/fp080917.html -- the MindForth Programming Journal for 17.SEP.2008. ... 1: Use delta storage Stragegy 2: Use full block storage Common to both strategies: Check-in/check-out is necessary otherwise version control is meaningless, rollback is describes in context and the *strategy* for rolling back is very simple in both cases. The *strategy* for retrieving a version is clear in both cases although slightly different and the multi block version retrieval strategy is also very simple. Jean-Francois Michaud

Regards Jean-Francois Michaud In any case, modern versioning tools usually store the deltas of the modification instead of a full snapshot of the file.... function applies under the bulky solution. Rollback is the same as previously mentioned except that here we delete whole blocks instead of deltas. Regards Jean-Francois Michaud

.....  It might only offer manual roll-back of a specific block to a prior state, or possibly a grand snapshot of all blocks captured at a particular point in time.  Whatever-- I'm just looking for past strategies. Are you looking for past strategies or current strategies (or both)? You context seems to imply you're interested in both but in each individual reference, you only want one or the other. ... usefulness of remote debugging and the related benefits of interactivity when we seem to be directed, from what the heading says, into a talk about documenting FORTH code as you go). It seems to me that the "Modern Forth" context gets blurred out throughout the articles while insufficiently explained projects, and how they relate to the master topic of the section, are sprinkled throughout the articles.
