I think from a stock analysis POV, you are missing the point. The PE ratio is like the temperature of a fever - it's a measure of a symptom, not the cause. What caused the market to change its view of the company? Why did the market value the company as being worth 50%% more a year ago? Probably they were just being overly optimistic then (as markets often are) and now in a more pessimistic
