SBS2008 Server Windows 7 Pro client A user was working and something happened where several of her shortcut icons on her desktop switched to Word icons. When I look at the properties of the shortcuts they point to valid .exe files. When she double-clicks them Word opens up trying open the same .exe in the shortcut. When I launch the Start menu many of those .exe shortcuts also have Word

Hello, thanks for your answer. I'll try to find out more about this, cause I'm not that familiar with windows server. I don't think there's anything wrong with my application. If I log on to windows at 08:15, the problem is at 18:15. If I don't run my application that day, and only start the application at 18:14, it will crash at 18:15. 10 hours is the default time that a kerberos ticket is issued for in a windows Active Directory network. That glitch is not the network dropping, but is the server replying with an explicit access denied to the client because the ticket is expired. The client automatically requests a renewal of the ticket, which is granted, so for most network activities, you never "see" that renegotiation

Hello, we have an SBS2008 server, and vista professional pc's. Our ERP program is based on advantage database server from sybase. This program is completely installed on SBS2008, to start it on a vista pc, you only have to doubleclick on the start-icon that is on a network drive. The program then starts on the vista pc. The only requirement is that there has to a continuous connection

Russ - I think you might be trying to tell me that my questions are VERY SCARY? (Thanks: I got that bit :)) You won't see me on this forum again, because clearly, after I read ALL the books and do ALL the training on SBS2008 (in order to effectively evaluate EVERY possible interpretation of "best practice"), I will (like you and your learned colleagues) know everything there is to know

Just done this last week... www.drivesnapshot.de Connect a usb drive ( I used sata for speed ) download the exe (nothing to install) Create Image for C and D - if space available on C & D you can create Image on D for C ... Restore to new disk... boot up after hardware derects you'll have 3 days to sort out activation! (You'll need SBS2008 and use downgrade rights to stay legal)
