As Russ indicated, you might have other issues than DNS. To rule this out, can you ping the server from a CMD window on your workstation by name ( ping gbmain)? Are you able to access the company web? The NAS can handle the Gigabit. The server doesn't have a Gb card (yet) nor is the switch Gb. I keep my eye on eBay for low cost parts. The NAS if it's new probably already has a Gigabit card in it. Does the Server have a Gigabit in it. And the switch. well...
