I figured out what I was doing wrong. I was typing in what you have below but I was putting a space in the "resource type name" where it doesn't belong and I was trying to do it from a passive node. Thank you both for your help. -- Do what you know best!!! "John Toner [MVP]" wrote: > Use the value in the "Resource Type Name" column. So the command should be > > cluster restype "

I tried your solution but it gave this error: System error 5077 has occurred (0x000013d6). The specified resource type was not found. When I list the resource types. The backup agent resource shows the Display name as "(Unavailable)". When I look at the Resource Types in Cluster Administrator it the Resource name appears with an "!" on it. I have also tried typing "Unavailable" and "

If you know the exact name you can do this on the command line cluster restype "Type the exact name here" /DELETE /TYPE or with the cluster administrator choose "Resource Types" folder in the left panel, then right click on the resource type in the right panel, and choose delete rgds, Edwin. I am running an Exchange 2003 cluster. (a/a/a/p) Installed backup software and registered the resources with the cluster (Brightstor Arcserve). Did an upgrade and the old resource was not removed from the cluster, but a new resource was created during the upgrade. So, needless to say, the resource type that the old .dll refers to no longer exists. Now when I open the cluster admin I receive

I finally deleted the resource and set it up again. The one warning that I would give for anyone doing this is that all your MSDTC customized security settings will be lost and you need to set them up again. Looking at my two nodes, I see the service Distributed Transaction Coordinator is set to manual on both nodes, but it is running on both. Shouldn't the Cluster services control which
