Once your Networking / DNS issues were resolved, were you able to successfully start the Cluster Service on each node? Yep, this sounds like DNS / Name Resolution issues. Before you try to cluster, ensure you can ping/connect by IP address (both public as heartbeat), by Netbios name, by FQN. And this from each machine to each machine.
