The next meeting of the GSSA (Western Cape) will take place on Saturday 12
July 2008 at 14:00 in the Goodwood Library Hall, Church Street, Goodwood.
The meeting will be held in the format of a workshop where members will be
able to put questions of a genealogical nature to a panel of experts. They
will also be afforded the opportunity to discuss their particular research
problems with an expert.
Refreshments are supplied at R5 per head.
Call Nico Gey van Pittius (082 435 4478) or Ria van den Heever (021 930
1525) with any enquiries.

If they aren't familiar with "Western Cape" or "Goodwood" or "GSSA" (Genealogical Society of South
Africa) they probably wouldn't be going any way and if they were still curious, I do believe they
could ask. Its not that big a deal.

And you'd be wrong. In the context of the original posting, to
say nothing of general usage, to average, moderately educated
non-South African would recognize Western Cape as referring to
a specific place in South Africa. He wouldn't necessarily be able
to place it exactly, but he would know it's in South Africa and
in the vicinity of Capetown and Cape Province.
Now, were you to have said "western cape", I might agree with you,
but not here and in the original context.

Except that "Western Cape" is the name of the Province that Goodwood is in.
I don't recall complaints when people forget to specify "USA" after the
names of US states... This is the same thing.
