Just reading Freep

about how we're the "worst" in Canada, lawyers overloaded with prosecutions,
etc. Murder rate is 5.2 per 100,000 while the national average is 1.8
The part that caught my eye was the stats for 2008.
18 people killed so far this year. 6 where the victim knew the attacker and
11 related to gangs/drugs. Unfortunately it doesn't show how many were
drug/gang AND knew their attacker. But lets assume (for arguments sake)
that 3 did. Oh, and BTW there's one murder related to the sex trade.
So it's 11+3+1=14. 14 out of 18 which tells me that if you're not involved
in the gangs/drugs/sex trade and you don't hang around with "murderous"
types (say at all night drinking parties, etc.) your chances of being
murdered are in that "4" category and not the "14" category. So now that
5.2 becomes a (5.2 X 4/18) 1.15, which is a number (below the Canadian
average) that I can "live" with.
And they say that the papers only print bad news.
