'Bush' Sewage Plant Plan Heads To Vote
Enough Signatures Certified For Ballot Measure

July 18, 2008

A measure seeking to commemorate President George W. Bush's years in
office by slapping his name on a San Francisco sewage plant has
qualified for the November ballot.

The measure certified Thursday would rename the Oceanside Water
Pollution Control Plant the George W. Bush Sewage Plant.

Backers submitted more than 12,000 signatures on July 7, organizer
Brian McConnell told SFGate.com.

The San Francisco Department of Elections told the Presidential
Memorial Commission on Thursday that they had enough signatures to
qualify.

A minimum of 7,168 registered San Francisco voters were needed.

Supporters say the idea is to commemorate the mess they claim Bush has
left behind by actions such as the war in Iraq. Are they being
disrespectful? Tell us what you think.

Local RepubliKKKans say the plan stinks and they will oppose it.

Pakistan: Taliban Gives Five Days for Government of North West Frontier Province to Resign

Author: mimus

PESHAWAR: Tehreek-i-Taliban has warned NWFP government of dire
consequences in case it failed to step down within the next five days.
Taliban spokesman Maulvi Umer told Geo News on Telephone that
Tehreek-I-Taliban will be forced to take action against NWFP government if
it fails to quit. "NWFP government will itself be responsible for the
damage," he warned. "ANP government made peace pacts but failed to
fulfill its promises," Taliban spokesman maintained. Maulvi Umer said
government in North West Frontier Province started operations against them
in Swat valley and Hangu area. The Pakistani Taliban chief Baitullah
Mehsood also demanded of the provincial government to resign in five days
or face the consequences. "Taliban can launch launch actions against
the government as the deadline expires," Maulvi Umar, spokesman for
Baitullah Mehsood said. He said the decision was taken in the meeting of
the Taliban central 'shura' or council. "The provincial government
has failed to maintain peace and that is why it should immediately
quit," Umar quoted Mehsood as saying. The Spokesman accused the ruling
Awami National Party in NWFP of 'deceiving the public' on the slogan
of peace. "But the party is in fact against the dialogue," he added.
The provincial government had signed peace deal with the Taliban in Swat
valley in May but Taliban have suspended the talks, saying that the ...

HOLY CRAP!! THIS IS REALLY GETTING SCARY!! MORE INFORMATION SHOWING
THAT ISRAEL IS TRULY GOING TO ATTACK IRAN AFTER B. O. WINS THE
ELECTION IN NOVEMBER!!

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/18/opinion/18morris.html?_r=2&oref=slogin&ref=opinion&pagewanted...

ISRAEL will almost surely attack Iran’s nuclear sites in the next four
to seven months — and the leaders in Washington and even Tehran should
hope that the attack will be successful enough to cause at least a
significant delay in the Iranian production schedule, if not complete
destruction, of that country’s nuclear program. Because if the attack
fails, the Middle East will almost certainly face a nuclear war —
either through a subsequent pre-emptive Israeli nuclear strike or a
nuclear exchange shortly after Iran gets the bomb.

It is in the interest of neither Iran nor the United States (nor, for
that matter, the rest of the world) that Iran be savaged by a nuclear
strike, or that both Israel and Iran suffer such a fate. We know what
would ensue: a traumatic destabilization of the Middle East with
resounding political and military consequences around the globe,
serious injury to the West’s oil supply and radioactive pollution of
the earth’s atmosphere and water.

But should Israel’s conventional assault fail to significantly harm or
stall the Iranian program, a ratcheting up of the Iranian-Israeli
conflict to a nuclear level will most likely follow. Every
intelligence...

Send Karl Rove to Jail!
By Robert Greenwald, Brave New Films
July 18, 2008

This sounds like a dream, doesn't it? Well, it's not. We have a unique opportunity right now to
send Karl Rove to jail, but only if we take immediate action.

All we have to do is pressure the 40 members of the House Judiciary Committee, make them hold
Rove in contempt and send him to jail. We've never had such a direct opportunity to hold Rove
accountable. No, this is not enough punishment for his years and years of crimes, but it's a
huge start, and will send a very clear message to the entire Bush administration.

We put together this video to explain the issues surrounding Rove's failure to testify before
Congress, and why Rove should be held in contempt and sent to jail. Check out Send Karl Rove to
Jail, and sign our petition to ensure that the HJC holds Rove in contempt.

Today at 1pm ET / 10am PT, the first episode of Meet the Bloggers will air live, and Karl Rove
will be the big topic of discussion with bloggers Marcy Wheeler, Liliana Segura, Baratunde
Thurston, and special guest Arianna Huffington. The video will be featured on the show, sign
the petition, forward it to friends (don't forget to Digg it), and go to meetthebloggers.org to
send in your own thoughts, and join the discussion at 1pm ET.
