Description: I have been asked by a leading health care organization to identify Independent Consultant Web Systems Administrator / Engineer candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline and three years+ of experience in systems support and working knowledge of specific technology to be administered, Microsoft & technology certifications are highly desired with some combination of the following: familiarity with multi-platform environments, IIS, SQL Server Database, Business Objects / Crystal Reports, Web, and Client Server, MS Sharepoint, other Portal technologies and security systems; solid knowledge of HTTP, FTP, SSL, DNS services and TCP/IP protocol; familiar with SDLC methodologies, excellent interpersonal and communication skills for this six month to one year independent contract in the Midtown, New York City, New York area with an option to become an employee after the contract. The selected Independent Consultant Web Systems Administrator/ Engineer candidate will maintain responsibility for the architecture, implementation and management lifecycle of the Intranet, Extranet, Portal, Sharepoint Portal, Content Management System, Business Objects Reporting infrastructure for the Microsoft Windows platform. The selected Engineer will also be tasked with the design and implementation of web application servers and their related systems, complete documentation for quality, standard operating procedures, standards, and disaster recovery.



Specific tasks will include the management, upgrade and support of existing web infrastructure; web usage and other reporting metrics; web server consolidation, monitoring and growth management; resource forecasting; and cost analysis. The selected Web Engineer will be responsible for secure computing in the web environment with tasks like ensuring the adherence to the policy of using SSL, where appropriate, and ensuring the secure transfer of sensitive data. Other technical tasks will include management of hardware and software load balanced application designs, new web site provisioning, and management of upgrades for web server and web applications.



Qualified Independent Consultant Web Systems Administrator/ Engineer candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline with three years+ of experience in systems support and working knowledge of specific technology to be administered, Microsoft & technology certifications are highly desired with some combination of the following:



- Familiarity with multi-platform environments, IIS, SQL Server Database, Business Objects / Crystal Reports, Web, and Client Server, MS Sharepoint, other Portal technologies and security systems.


- Solid knowledge of HTTP, FTP, SSL, DNS services and TCP/IP protocol. - Able to rapidly absorb and implement new technologies and procedures.


- Able to perform tasks in dynamic/changing situations and troubleshoot/ optimize availability of system services to users.


- Familiar with SDLC methodologies, excellent interpersonal and communication skills.



Qualified candidates will have near perfect English writing and English speaking skills not requiring repeating during rapid English conversation.



This long term project in Midtown, New York City, New York offers an initial six months to one year independent contract with an option to hire, (if all parties are willing), at a competitive starting rate in the $45/hr to $50/hr range.
