The Hardware Product Manager has three broad areas of responsibility: *Product Management- Develop, propose, and execute an approved 2-year product plan, driving product line strategies and tactics for wearable computers, headsets and peripherals. *Product Marketing- Create and execute marketing tactics, sales tools, and programs that support achievement of all annual sales plans and objectives and ensure that all materials and information serve domestic and international market needs and are coordinated to that end. *Product Line Administration and Support- Manage and coordinate the day to day support of the products to all internal and external customers on a worldwide basis. Responsibilities: *Product Management - Coordinate and champion product development activities and life cycles for each assigned product. Ensure that the assigned products support the product strategies and objectives as defined. - Lead the product development stages within the product development process, develop and lead superior performing cross functional teams with engineering and development management. - Coordinate all hardware development and maintenance priorities with Mobile Products Software and Enterprise Products Software product management, technical support, and manufacturing. - Ensure that all assigned products are developed within the product development process and are on schedule, within budget, and meet functional and unit cost specifications. - Prepare product requirement documents and the associated business cases and required management approvals for product development proposals and projects. - Coordinate and ensure completion of all approved product development projects with engineering and ensure that all products are efficiently and cost effectively supported. - Monitor and refine all processes and procedures related to hardware development, testing, quality processes, ECO control, and technical support. - Plan and coordinate the development and introduction of product enhancements to extend/maximize product life/profitability. *Product Marketing - Ensure that the assigned products are effectively positioned and priced against the competition to achieve company strategic and tactical sales objectives and recommend any changes to executive management. - Monitor, evaluate, and define tactical responses to competitive threats and ensure that any strategic threats are actively communicated to executive management. - Develop, prepare and manage the delivery of all product positioning and strategic selling information to internal and external customers and maintain the ability to provide timely support of all tactical sales situations. - Define, prepare and manage the delivery of all product support information including but not limited to product sales literature, services, repair and other product support documentation, sales and technical support training materials, etc. - Obtain/conduct analyses of competitors? products to support product design and positioning activities. - Monitor and recommend pricing changes and other program or support services to maintain Vocollects desired competitive position. - Ensure that all product launch and end of life activities are coordinated effectively with all internal and external customers and are appropriate for customers on a global basis. - Monitor market acceptance and modify product positioning as required on a worldwide basis. - Provide timely, accurate, and proactive product information to sales personnel and channel partners. - Support delivery of product and marketing program solutions for all channel partners and other cooperative marketing or sales initiatives. *Product Line Administration and Support - Serve as the product authority and focal point person to manage all communications for product commitments to external and internal customers. - As the product authority, ensure that product inquiries regarding problems and/or deviations from spec, are proactively identified, investigated, prioritized, corrected, and communicated in a timely manner. - Manage all responses and commitments to sales inquiries for requests for product information, competitive sales information, product demonstrations, and other support requirements. - Ensure that there is sufficient product knowledge and training such that technical support and other customer facing support programs or processes are efficient and cost effective meeting target metrics for customer expectations and performance. - Monitor product sales & pricing trends, and margin levels against forecasted contributions. - Ensure that all ECO activities, demo or beta releases are properly coordinated, supported and managed with the appropriate internal and external customers. - Investigate deviations from forecast and determine appropriate responses. - Prepare analyses and format data to support the annual budgeting process. - Operate within expense and capital budgets. - Select, prioritize and coordinate cost-reduction activities. - Recruit, train and supervise Product Specialists. Qualifications: *Education:BA/BS business, computer science or engineering. MBA preferred. Skills & Experience: *Required - 7 or more years of managing one or more hardware products (acceptable prior job descriptions include Associate Product Manager; Assistant Product Manager, Advanced Technology Manager or Product Engineering Manager) in a distribution or industrially oriented market segment - Demonstrated ability of taking a product through the product life cycle from concept to retirement - Proven track record of team building, leadership and achievement in cross-functional team settings - Proven track record of turning around, maintaining, or increasing product margins - Proven track record of managing a phased product development program - Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication (written and oral) skills and demonstrated ability to serve as a product expert supporting a complex sales process - Demonstrated project management skills - Demonstrated technical understanding of various operating systems, networking technologies, hardware development and quality management processes - Demonstrated high degree of initiative, creative problem solving, attention to detail, and coolness under fire - Proficiency in word-processing and spreadsheet PC applications *Desirable - MBA with a technical undergraduate degree - Product Manager certification from the Association of International Product Marketing and Management - Sales and/or channel marketing and/or marketing communications experience - Other broad or unconventional experiences, such as working in an international position or company, especially in an overseas assignment, or foreign travel - Proven track record of risk-taking - High degree of curiosity, creativity, intuition, and street smarts - Foreign language skills - Familiarity with the voice recognition, auto ID and/or PC Peripheral Industry - Familiarity with Quality Function Deployment (QFD) or other related product development concepts and methods For immediate consideration, please send your resume totsofelkanik@kalypxo-unbundled.com
