General Description: This position is for a masters level graduate student to carry out research doing sedimentology and stratigraphy on long cores obtained in Antarctica by the ANDRILL (Antarctica Drilling) Program. This will include grain size analysis using microscopes and instruments such as a Sedigraph. It is expected that this student will work up the data and the results for writing up into a masters thesis, which can be then revised into a peer- reviewed paper. It is expected that this will be finished no later than the summer of 2009. Other Duties: NONESalary:$24,000 Core Competencies/Qualifications: Must have graduated with a BS in geology. Have at least a 3.0 GPA. Position will remain open until filled.
