- Struck with soldiers in Afghanistan

The fraction leader of the SPD, Struck, has arrived in Afghanistan to
visit the German soldiers. The former minister of defense is on a
fact-finding tour at the bases Kundus and Masar-i Scharif in the Northern
part of the country to asses the situation of the soldiers. The Lower
House of German Parliament will make a decision in March whether or not to
send six German Tornado reconnaissance aircraft to Afghanistan. Germany
received a request to that effect from NATO. The Federal Cabinet has
already decided in favor of sending the Tornados.
