When the motorists who dominate and infest this transport newsgroup
try to claim that the amount they pay in taxes more than covers any
expenses incurred by them I wonder if it includes the costs incurred
by 'Ambulance crews, including air ambulance, firefighters and
police'?

"Police are trying to find the driver who fled the scene of a fatal
car crash in Battersea last night.
A pedestrian died after being hit by a blue Honda Civic at about 4am
in Plough Road, at the junction with York Road.
Ambulance crews, including air ambulance, firefighters and police
attended the scene, but the man, believed to be in his mid 20s, could
not be saved.
He was pronounced dead at 4.30am.
Officers from the Collision Investigation Unit at Hampton are keen to
trace the driver of the car, who left the scene before police arrived.
Anyone with information should call 020 8941 9011..."

Ambulances and fire crews etc. are on duty and paid for anyway, there
is no extra costs if they are being used for whatever purposes (except
overtime in some exceptional circumstances). Thus attending an RTA is
covered anyway.
NM (Dominate and Infest).

Do you disapprove of helicopters being used as ambulances Doug?

Same applies, it was there anyway and needs to fly regularly to keep
the crews trained, makes minimal difference to the operating costs if
it is used for training or for an incident.
