Someone has suggest putting wind turbines along motorway central
reservations cos motorways are so ugly anyway further defacement
wouldn't matter. They could also power all those roadlights which are
left on 24/7 at great energy expense. Good idea eh?

You probably won't have noticed, but many signs are already illuminated with
what appear to be small wind turbines, some have solar power sources too.
This is 'a good thing' in my book, so yes, I agree with you.
Jeez ....

Using that logic, we should put them all in Catford.

No its a stupid idea, and you know it, so why bring it up?

I don't think it is.
Obviously the turbines wouldn't be the 100 metre tall systems on moorland
windfarms, but would likely be smaller units, and there would need to be
many more of them, but essentially it's a reasonable idea. There's already
an infrastructure to accomodate the wiring to support them and the land
between motorways is mostly useless dividing space between lanes. I
wouldn't expect them to be sited on motorways where the only divider is 10'
of Armco, but where there's a reasonable clearance factor it seems to me to
be a worthwhile thing to do.

Only if you suffer from a surfeit of wind!

How does it work with two opposing wind directions caused by
sidedraught from vehicles?

Presumably the turbines would have to be high enough not to be
affected in this way.
