It's taken "quite a bit" of work behind the scenes, but the admins saw
sense, eventually.

I saw that on my watch list.

The problem was that the admin that deleted it, did a hit and run edit-
protect, and then did not want anything to do with the article. Other
admins were then reluctant to intervene despite edit-requests for fear
of stepping on the hit and run admins toes.

Slightly deeper problem than that. Some complete and utter tosser
deleted huge swathes of the page then called for an admin to lock the
page. Then the admin announced his 'retirement' and basically said "fuck
you, I don't review my lame-arsed decisions".
Wikipedia really is run by a bunch of sad ego-wankers.

You may think that, I couldn't possibly comment.

I would, in the normal course of things, suspect that perhaps Doug
Bollen had done that. However, I don't credit him enough intelligence
to do it.

I traced the user responsible - I don't know about you but I find the
Wiki revision history tools to be a PITA so it took longer than it
should. That users page is full of evidence that random, arrogant
deletions of other people's work is how he sees Wikis working. He picks
fights with admins, insists that he's always right, refuses to engage in
debate...
