"· Ownership set to rise from 27.8m to 33.5m

Britain will descend into "traffic hell" with nearly 6m more cars
running on British roads by 2031, an environmental group has warned.
The Campaign for Better Transport is urging the government to cut car
use by investing in the rail network, as well as improving bus
services and making public transport cheaper.
According to government projections, a further 5.7m cars will be on
British roads over the next 20 years, increasing the overall traffic
load by 30%%. Stephen Joseph, executive director of the Campaign for
Better Transport, said: "We can't go on like this. Traffic is
destroying our communities, our health and our environment. The
government must stop catering for all this traffic and instead give
people and businesses good alternatives to driving."

Or maybe the question should be, "Do we want to live with more car parks or
in economic decline?" You can't take the consequence out of the equation, as
pollsters will tell you how you put the question to someone will determine
the answer you get.
Should we give an extra

"The Campaign for Better Transport, formerly known as Transport 2000" as
it says in the article. Someone had better tell Transport 2000 that this
is their new name - their website seems not to know about it. The only
reference I can find is to a group in New Zealand.
Begins to sound like its made up to me.
