Another fucked up Douggist policy. Up the taxes on the fuel the poor
rely on to get about and heat their homes then hand them back a bit of
it in the form of a "benefit" just to kick them in the teeth a bit
more.

One of the things, among a whole raft of things, that made me want to
hurl about Darling's lost CDs was the news that under NuLabr, 25 million
people are receiving state benefits.

I'm in favour of sending them a letter saying "get a job you workshy
bastards" and making that the full and final settlement of their sodding
handouts.

That's slightly the wrong end of the stick. Everyone from the Queen
downwards (well maybe not the Queen - her status is odd in all sorts of
ways) is entitled to Child Benefit. Including one Gordon Brown.

These aren't income-related benefits. These are benefits payable to
all parents of children under 16, irrespective of their income.

It is Child Benefit - you get it automatically if you have a child,
irrespective of income. What annoys me is that I don't particularly
need the 70 per month which I receive through Child Benefit, but have
had my details lost (perhaps to fraudsters) anyway.

Most of them have jobs, Steve. EVERY SINGLE PERSON REGARDLESS OF INCOME
is entitled to Child Benefit if they have kids.
