I wonder also about his recording technique / equipment. He's a "rock
musician" Does he know his arse from his elbow ?
Did he have the right kind of microphone ?
Did he by any chance have the recording level set to "auto" whereupon
it will just wind the gain up to "flat out" in periods of silence.
Not at all easy to record a dicky bird 100 yards away and the little
buggers fly off if you get any closer.
