One for Doug...

Race across London.

Pitted a car against a bicycle, public transport and going by river.

Interesting to note that the only cyclist who actually stopped for the
red traffic lights throughout the filming was Richard Hammond and that
other cyclists berated him for doing so....

Totally biased report as it lacked the best personal city transport.

A twist and go mo-ped would have pissed all over Hammond. But the main
script writer has a big downer on anything with 2 wheels. Which is why
he was hoping to take the piss out of sweaty Hammond on the bike by
using his big powerboat.

Holding a fist pointed squarely at the teeth of the rider works well.

This program is the pits and racing on public streets is illegal. It
should be taken off for promoting such behaviour as well as its
regular promotion of the most harmful forms of personal transport.

There was no racing. And as for bleating on about promoting personal
transport, the car lost Doug - being beaten (in order) by a man on a
pushbike, a bloke in a boat and a bloke using the bus and tube. ...

So why does a cycle club arrange races on the public streets close to my
home?

You're telling lies, again.
