This should slow them down a bit and even save a few lives! BTW, note
the use of the derogatory term '4x4', which seems to be widely
recognised everywhere except on this particular newsgroup.
"Petrol is soaring towards an unprecedented £5 a gallon as oil hits
record highs and the Government prepares to further hike fuel duty in
next week's Budget.
The latest misery for motorists comes as official figures show that
fuel prices have soared by a staggering 20 per cent in the past 12
months - prompting demands for the 2p a litre tax hike planned from
April 1 to be axed.
There is even more pain in the pipeline as Chancellor Alistair Darling
prepares next week to crack-down with a range of 'green' tax measures
on 'gas-guzzling' cars blamed for global warming, including 4X4
Chelsea tractors and high performance sports cars. But the measures
are likely to hit many mainstream family cars as well.
Official figures show the price of fuel, which includes petrol and

Office for National Statistics..."

Sorry Doug but that;'s because its a stupid press term and actually means
nothing
e.g
Bentley or a Fiat - both can be 4*4s - woul you want to ban a panda 4*4?
anyway - let's be honest you just have a blinkered antimotorist POV - prices
are higher as there's more demand for fuel - not actually good for the
planet - is it? :-(

Surely it's the chauffeur, ostler or butler that attends to the vehicle's
needs. I can't imagine such people dirtying their hands.

I quote from the Daily Wail :-
"tax measures on 'gas-guzzling' cars blamed for global warming,

And people who live in Chelsea couldn't give a shit how much the tax is
