Gordon Brown has rejected demands to apologise to MPs amid accusations
from the Conservatives that he misled Parliament over Treasury moves
to increase road tax for millions of motorists.
The Treasury admitted on Wednesday that more than 9 million motorists
will be hit with significant rises in Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) as
part of a "green tax" package that will come into effect next year.
The higher tax rates will raise an extra £430 million for the Treasury
next year and £700 million the year after
Many drivers will see their tax rise by more than £200 a year as a
result of the plans.
The Treasury figures showed that in 2010/11 when the full tax measures
are in place, 43 per cent of motorists will be worse off and 18 per
cent will gain from lower tax rates.

It's 10p all over again can't the f**kwitt realise he's just going to
end up with shit on his face again.
It truly is a remarkable capability that Brown has for digging a great
big hole jumping in and then carry on digging, only faster.

AIUI,
in repsonse to a question in parliament he said that "the majority of
drivers would be better off" whereas the true answer is that 18%% will
be better off.

I still don't understand how this constitutes "misleading parliament."

He'll do nothing, he'll be quite happy to blame it on ZaNu-Labour and keep
the proceeds for his own budget.

You, my rosy-cheeked friend, are every politician's dream
voter......you swallow everything they say hook, line and sinker.
I'll say this v-e-r-y slowly; if you tell a legislative assembly that
"the majority of motorists will be better off" and then it emerges
that only 18%% are better off...........18%% isn't a majority.
Ergo, you've misled, in fact, lied, to Parliament.
In the olden days, PM's used to resign for less.........with NuLab,
they don't even bat an eyelid.
