Scheme to ban cyclists from even more public roads.

Instead of making existing roads better for cyclists this scheme will
increase the presumption that cyclists have no right to hold up faster
traffic by using formerly PUBLIC roads.

Good for motorists he means.

Just last week you were bellyaching when you were hit by a car. So why would
separating cars and bicycles not be good for cyclists?

Because such separation is never complete and is often abused by
drivers plus the fact that it is often accompanied by 'shared use'
where pedestrians are made to yield a part of their space to cyclists.
More importantly though it can remove the RIGHT of cyclists to access
public spaces on the lame excuse that errant drivers might kill them,
which conveniently ignores the fact that it is those very dangerous
drivers who will primarily benefit...

As a cyclist and a driver, I think keeping powered vehicles and bikes
separate from each other is a good thing, especially in heavy traffic where
the alternative is a cycle lane painted on the left-hand side of the road
which prevents cars taking up the correct left-hand position for turning
left and allows bikes going straight on to overtake cars turning left.

There is nothing in the article to suggest such a thing. Why do you insist
on seeing something positive for cyclists so negatively?

And cyclists, surely? Have you ever heard of the concept "win-win"?

Just to put things into context, this is what you are bellyaching about
now...

"London is likely to become one of the most cycle-friendly places in the
world, with a series of two-wheeler superhighways cutting a swath through
traffic and congestion. Plans for the super-cycleways will be unveiled next
week as part of an initiative to stimulate a 400%% increase in the number of
people pedalling round the capital by 2025.
