Sat Nav

Well, my first long distance trip with a Sat Nav in the car and I am most
impressed. What a marvellous invention. I was stunned at how accurate the
eta function was.

One critisism. I really think it should be illegal to warn people of the
presence of speed cameras. People who speed should have to take their
chances.

Brian.

What's wrong with warning of Camera's?

Surely if you slow down ! is that not better than a fine ?

or are you the ones in favor paying out, rather than safety !

Better to prevent than solve!!!

If they cannot see a big yellow box or a big van wsith a picture of a camera
(or in Sussex - get the list of where they are going to be)then surely they
should get their guide dog to drive ? :)

Well, no.

If one "slows down", then one was going too fast.

Someone who goes too fast in one situation is likely to go too fast in
others.

Allowing someone who is likely to be going too fast to escape without
penalty is not likely to reduce their speed in those other situations.

Hidden, mobile speed cameras (allied with severe penalties - crushing would
work well) are the best solution.

Going too fast for the safe road conditions or going too fast for the
legal limit?

If the former, then slowing down is surely a good thing.
If the latter, then slowing down is surely a good thing, unless you
happen to believe that the legal limit isn't necessarily related to an
appropriate speed for the road conditions - in which case, slowing down
is unnecessary on safety grounds.
