Hypermobilists on this NG will not like this.
"The government should completely rethink its aviation policy and
shelve plans to expand Heathrow and Stansted airports, according to an
influential advisory body.
The Sustainable Development Commission, chaired by Sir Jonathon
Porritt, said there were big question marks over the environmental and
economic arguments underpinning the proposals for British airport
expansion. It warned that the government faced a wave of legal
challenges if it did not hold an independent review of its 2003
aviation white paper, which sanctioned new runways at Heathrow,
Stansted and other airports.
"A lot of basic data upon which important decisions will be made is
heavily contested. Our recommendation is that an independent
assessment is undertaken," said Hugh Raven, a SDC member. He added:
"The SDC is not in the business of launching legal challenges, but
there may well be other key stakeholders who are."

Is there any other news?
Will the sun set in the east this evening?
Will it rise in the east tomorrow morning?
"Dog bites man" is not news.
Neither is "Put UK airport expansion on hold, demands green group".

I did spend a happy hour convincing a young recruit that in the Southern
Hemisphere the sun rose in the West and set in the East.
I think I'd have a greater job convincing Dug that he was wrong. ...

The Greens in this country will never be taken seriously whilst they
continue to insist that someone can't be green unless they are
Communist.
And if you need proof of that, well we’ve just had two weeks of media
overload on local elections and by-elections and how many times did
you hear the Green party mentioned, the f**king Loonies got more
coverage then the Greens.
So there you are, conditions could never have been more favourable for
them, given a lousy Government plus the collective angst, doom and
gloom in evidence on the environment, and they still can’t get anyone
to vote for them.

Now there's an unbiased source and a true hero to the working classes,
The Hon Sir Jonathon Espie Porritt, 2nd Baronet, former leader of the
farcical "Green" party. A man who exists almost entirely on payments
from his chum Charles Windsor. A man so against air tranpsort that he
travel tens of thosuands of miles every year by air to get his anti-air
transport message across to the masses.
Oh yes, I can see how he's right up there with the principles that Duhg
so admires. Those principles being what exactly? Hypocrisy, cant and
fuckwittery?
