As if it was not bad enough that just about every form of mass media
is plastered with fanciful car adverts we now have a foreign car firm
trying to dictate to Londoners how they should encourage even more
pollution.

"Luxury car firm Porsche is reported to be mounting a legal challenge
over the decision to raise the London congestion charge from £8 to £25
for the highest-polluting vehicles.

Porsche said it believed the increase, levied by Mayor Ken
Livingstone, was "unfair" and is to make an application for judicial
review of the decision.

Mr Livingstone will have 14 days to respond to a letter from the
company.

A spokesperson for the mayor called the threatened legal action "a
double attack" on Londoners..."

Good luck Porche! - incidently, I understand that for an application
fee of £82, and an annual fee of £27 a year you can set up your own
"private hire" taxi company and avoid the charges altogether, it'd pay
for itself in less than a week....

A UK private limited company, registered at Companies House.

Of course. They have a legal duty to do so for their shareholders.

And I hope they win. Politics of envy through and through, and nothing
whatsoever to do with reducucing congestion.

I liked the claim that

"they are trying to impose on all Londoners unnecessary levels of pollution
and greenhouse gases by a tiny minority."

If it is a tiny minority, why does it matter what they drive? They will have
minimal effect because there are so few of them.
