Erm, wake up. Try the thread "Bus driver needlessly runs pedestrian down" a
couple days ago.

That would be the same Doug who appears not to have made a comment on that
thread, would it, despite being asked?

This clearly illustrates the need to reduce speed limits on the
approach to schools. If drivers are going to fast they cannot cope
with the unexpected and stop in time.

Also, if you look closely you will see that the driver is going
through on amber. In short the bus was travelling too fast.

Do you think that the pedestrian bore _any_ blame in that?

Umm, if YOU bother to look closely, you will see that the lights change
to amber as the front of the bus actually crosses the line, at which
point the brake lights are already on.

The bus stops barely one vehicle length clear of the fuckwit.

The light doesn't change to amber until after the front of the bus passes
the Stop line. The kid leapt over a barrier deliberately placed to protect
pedestrians using a perfectly well-placed light-controlled crossing.
That's the main road to Edinburgh he's just jumped out into without paying
a blind bit of attention. You'll note from the video clip that there are
several other idiots hanging around the wrong side of the barrier, in the
`cycle lane'. Where they are, they'd be causing obstruction to cyclists.
Well, unless the cyclists are on the pavement, I guess.

How slow do you think the bus would need to be going to be able to
stop in an incident such as that, Doug?
