Petrol station night shift

I heard that a new law was passed making it illegal to employ non-EU
citizens unless they spoke English. How come every single petrol station in
London uses Asian staff at night who can't understand "Yorkie"? Is every
single petrol chain breaking the law, and if so, why?

Cite? There's a law saying that you can only employ people with a
valid work permit

You heard wrong.

Wishful thinking on your part, I think (from the tone of the rest of
your post).

Were they considering such a law? I am sure I heard something like that.

I wasn't aware that the rest of my post had a tone. Oh, I get it, you're
shouting "RASCIST!"... because when an entire sector of the economy refuses
to employ anyone who hasn't been born and educated in South Asia, that's
called "equality"... and wondering about the behaviour of these companies is
called "racism". You are Harriett Harman AICMFP.

If so, it would have been a very brie "consideration" that would have
been unlikely ever to get outside the meting where it was considered.

As Smolley points out, it would undoubtedly lead to racial
discrimination, and so could not be a valid law under et HRA.
