Hi
- Where is the best place to get advice on my parking ticket?
(which was in Central London).
What happened:
Cut a long story short, I parked on a single yellow line (with no
chevron, vertical lines on it) and there was a confusing yellow sign
on the curbside that read:
"No Loading
Mon - Fri 8:30am -6:30pm
Sat 8:30am - 1:30pm"
So I parked on a Saturday at 1:45pm, but I got a ticket.
The irritating thing is that I had already specially phoned up the
Westminster Council, (in London, UK) to ask for clarification, and
they had looked up the street on their computer and said that yes, I
could park there legally after 1:30 on a Saturday.
To be more specific, what they had actually said was that there are
some parts of the street in question that you can park on, on a
Saturday that are okay, and some that are not. So I asked him how I
could tell which was which, and then I described this sign in great
detail. And he said yes you can park underneath that sign. "Are you
100%% sure?" I asked. "Yes definitely 100%%" he replied.
- Can anyone clear up my legal position?
I am absolutely sickened and DISGUSTED with the parking authorities.
It seems to me that they are incentivised to DELIBERATELY make the
parking rules and signage as complex as possible so that they can earn
extra revenue from us innocent citizens who are TRYING to obey the
law.
With thanks
Ship
