There are many government calls for people to reduce their impact on the
environment, but when people do so the planning laws don't allow it. Is
there likely to be any sustainable attempt at joined up government thinking?

Eco-community fights to keep site
By Sophie Pierce
BBC Radio Devon
Members of an eco-community have appealed to be allowed to continue with
their experiment in sustainable living.
The Steward Community Woodland, on Dartmoor, is home to 11 adults and seven
children.
Temporary planning permission for the 32-acre site ran out in September
2007. Dartmoor National Park has refused to renew it.
The community has appealed and a public inquiry is likely to be held later
this year.
Merlin Howse, who helped found the community eight years ago, said they were
now in a difficult position because planning regulations do not take account
of this kind of project.
"We don't fit into any categories that they can allow," he said.

"Brimstone" yahoo.co.uk> gurgled happily, sounding much
like they were saying:

He won't, of course. They're taking up more than their acre-per-person.

Thats spooky. I emailed the DNPA today, expressing my support for the
project and asking why the DNPA is opposing a sustainable lifestyle when
the rest of the country is trying desperately to build "eco" towns.
We'll see what happens........

Will do, but my record on getting replies from these people isn't good.
I emailed Mothers Against Violence asking why their answer for
everything is "ban ban ban". I was told that because I hadn't had a
family member killed by a gun/knife I wouldn't understand. When I
pointed out that me and my teenage children carried a knife as part of
the survival pack (belt pack, in case rucksack is lost) when we go
hiking, and why did MAV think we should get 4 years for it, I strangely
got no reply.
