Court jails animal rights woman
A woman who waged a five-year blackmailing campaign of animal rights
extremism against companies and individuals in the UK has been jailed.
Deborah Morrison, 35, from Dorchester, Dorset, pleaded guilty to 12 offences
which included six charges of blackmail at Stafford Crown Court last
October.
The offences involved sending threatening letters and emails. She has been
jailed for eight months.
One firm she targeted had links with Darley Oaks Farm in Newchurch, Staffs.
Darley Oaks Farm bred guinea pigs for research until January 2006.
Morrison sent dozens of emails and letters - some containing white powder -
to individuals and companies which had, or used to have, connections with
animal research organisations, Staffordshire Police said.
