One week on from the Doug pleasing 1.15 million cars (1/2 the city's cars are
banned on alternating days based on the number plate) being banned from the
roads of Beijing ahead of the Olympic games pollution levels have swelled to
the highest levels in over a month.yes Doug that's a higher level than the
week before with all the cars still on the road. It would seem that a 50%% cut
in cars on the road has bugger all positive impact on air pollution in
cities.

While Doug baiting might be a fun pastime , using bollox arguments
against him only makes his position stronger. You know perfectly well
most of the pollution there comes from factories but if the other half
of the cars had been on the road it would have been even worse.
Of course if cost cutting idiots in western companies hadn't
outsourced everything to china in the first place not only would we
still have a decent manufacturing industry in the west but tighter
pollution controls would have meant less pollution overall into the
atmosphere.

Yes. Which is why it illustrates perfectly just what complete bollocks
Duhg's donning of the green mantle is.
When it comes down to it, Duhg's "concern" for the environment or road
safety is just a front for his main aim - a vitriolic monomaniacal hatred
of the car. Because when he was a kid, he didn't look before running into
the road, and got hit by a car as a direct result.

Oh thats just crap. Are you suggesting that if those cars were on the
roads their exhaust gases would have been sucked up by the magic NOx
Pixie or something and so would have had no effect on pollution
levels? If they had been on the road the pollution would have been
even worse.

And unfortunately its idiots like him that make the whole green
movement look stupid. Just like a broken clock is right twice a day ,
occasionally doug does come out with something sensible ,but because
the other 99%% of what he spouts is garbage no one takes any notice.

No it isn't and unless you are as thick as Doug you know it, just over a week
ago there were twice as many cars on the road as there are now and less
pollution, as much as you would like to say it's crap or "bollox" those are
the facts pollution has increased, could it be in typical envyroloon style
you have assumed that the car is the most polluting way for these people to
travel? All I've done is state the facts the fact you have got so riled up
about them seems to suggest they don't fit with your agenda.

To be fair, you do seem to be ignoring the varying levels of local
pollution that weather conditions will give.
