%%steve%%@ malloc.co.uk (Steve Firth) gurgled happily, sounding much like
they were saying:
>>>> The highest death toll air accident (before the Lockerbie bombing)
>>>> in the UK caused no deaths on the ground.
>>> Hmm which one was that? The Kegworth crash or Stockport?
>> The Staines crash was the largest air crash on British soil before
>> Lockerbie. 118 dead, but none on the ground.

Just having a rummage through
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/
List_of_accidents_and_incidents_on_commercial_airliners
Excluding September 11th, there appears to have been a total of 267
people killed on the ground in 23 separate incidents. In the _entire_
history of commercial aviation...
Few of those have been on take-off or landing, which is what Duhg
complains about. Even when two planes collided over LA, the death toll on
the ground was small - eleven.
