One in 20 drivers is dodging road tax.

Well at least they are subsidising my Council Tax with parking fees/
fines.

"Foreign drivers have fuelled an alarming rise in the number of road
tax dodgers, a report by MPs reveals today.

One in 20 vehicles is now untaxed, costing law-abiding citizens at
least £214million last year.

Yet the Government and the Driver Vehicle Licensing Agency admit they
have no idea how big the problem is, says a highly critical report by
Parliamentary watchdogs.

The road tax system could easily become "a complete laughing stock",
warns the Public Accounts Committee.

Evasion of Vehicle Excise Duty rose to 5 per cent in 2006, up from 3.6
per cent in 2005..."

If they don't have valid tax what makes you think they'll pay fees/
fines?

So funny whatever news Doug (or I) post here then the moronic speed is
everything and sod the kids - Its only Darwinism in action brigade try and
find the opposite view

Dizzy Depression was a good example in a previous post - he denied the fact
there were any bad drivers - just so he could slag me off, insult me and say
I was wrong as per usual - LOL

I don't have a Babel Fish in my ear at the moment, do you think it possible
to provide a translation for the above?

Quite what this has to do with dodging road tax is a mystery.

If the DVLA has no idea how big the problem is, who came up with the 5%%
figure and how?

Aaaaah! Now that is a clever ploy used by the Daily Mail. They know that if
they leave a big enough gap between alleged fact A and alleged fact B (Two
words will usually do), the average middle England Tory will have forgotten
what was originally said and see no contradiction. The point of the story is
to discredit the government, as most Daily Wail stories are. The truth has
no bearing on the matter.

A 20th century literary style used by James Joyce, Jack Kerouac et al,
which has certain superficial similarities to "Toomy's" writing style,
is called stream of consciousness. The latter however implies that a
conscious mind is at work, which is clearly overstating things a
little. Perhaps "stream of unconsciousness" would be more appropriate
to describe Toomy's outpourings.
