Another good idea. Something must be done to discourage motorists
littering our public places with their filthy cars. Technology to the
rescue eh?
"Motorists who fail to pay three parking tickets face having their
cars clamped or towed away under strict new rules.
Parking attendants with hand-held computers will have access to a
register of persistent parking offenders.
If they spot a car's unpaid penalties on their electronic logs they
can call in a clamping van to immobilise the vehicle or tow it away
until the cash is recovered..."

One of these days, Duhg, you'll realise that the vast majority of people
who use cars don't actually approve of people who flaunt the laws
surrounding their use.
This sounds like a bloody fine idea to me, with a hint of "What's taken
them so damn long?"

Clamping seems a bit pointless to me. Tow? Please, feel free. But if you
don't want something there, why make sure it's there for longer?
Yes, there's the deterrent value with VED etc, but even so...

I don't think the point was that they were not wanted there, it was more
to send a message to others that no VED, insurance etc would deny you
the use of your car. I was told that later such sweeps in nearby areas
came up with few transgressors.

I agree that towing is better, but clamping at least requires less manpower.
