This is what can happen to motorists who deliberately ram cyclists.
"...Cyclists gave chase, stopping the man's car within a block, police
spokesman Mark Jamieson said. Protesters slashed the car's tires,
broke its windshield and punched the driver through an open window.
The driver was also struck in the head with an object after stepping
out of the car...."
"...The hostile exchange between the driver of the white Subaru and
the cyclists featured in the news broadcast originated because the
driver of the Subaru was nudging forward, defiant of the perimeter
created by bicyclists. The driver alternated between quickly
accelerating forward and forcefully braking, screeching his tires with
each forward thrust. After a few advances, the driver forcefully
accelerated in reverse while turning, thrusting the back end of his
car over the sidewalk, over the small grass strip that boarders the
street, and onto the sidewalk. A few cyclists who had streamed onto
the sidewalk from the street in order to go around the Subaru were
struck from behind when the driver forcefully reversed. This angered
the surrounding crowd..."

Perhaps they shouldn't have been illegally obstructing somebody trying to
go about their legal business, then?
And before you say anything - no, he shouldn't have rammed them. But had
he been left an alternative route available to him? Or was he the subject
effectively of false imprisonment.
