What very good news! This should cut some energy wastage and pollution
and make flying less viable.

Hmm , is HS1 rated for that speed? As for travelling through the
channel tunnel at 220mph , that'll never happen due to pathing issues
never mind the air pressure issues that would probably occur. Even
today its 100mph tops.
