The report I read stated that the fire started in a lorry which had
overheated brakes but this seems almost impossible to me.

When you finally pull the handbrake on on one of those trains, you will have
been travelling at very low speed for 10-15 minutes around the terminal and
will have been completely stationary for several minutes while booking on,
doing immigration controls etc...

Lorry brakes do catch fire, for example if you come down a mountain too
fast. But not after the dead-flat run into Calais, 15 minutes in the
terminal and 20 minutes into the train journey.
