Tough shit eh? Motoring is becoming so expensive these days.
"As if rising petrol prices weren't enough, motorists are being hit by
higher parking charges, with London coming up tops as the world's most
expensive city to park your car, according to a survey.
Parking your car in the City of London costs on average 34 pounds a
day, or 583 pounds a month, while parking in the popular West End
entertainment district cost 568 pounds month, according to an annual
survey by real estate firm Colliers International that was conducted
in June. (Original dollar figures from the survey have been converted
to pounds)..."

Is this supposed to be news?
FWIW, it's not strictly accurate. Those that know, know where to get
reasonably priced parking.
When I go to London, I park in my mates garden for free anyway.

And when was parking in the centre of the city or the west end ever
cheap? It's half the reason that the congestion charge hasn't done a
bloody thing to alleviate congestion. Just as was widely predicted.

So the prices were converted from pounds to dollars for the survey, then
converted back to pounds. And, of course, the exchange rate remained the
same, did it?

Maybe you get a discount for buying a full month in one go, thus encouraging
you to commute by car every day.

Yep , supply and demand , plus the people who want to park right in the
centre of london are either doing so on expenses or are stupidly rich anyway
so it's pretty irrelevant for the large majority of people in the country.

You do realise though , that those are *really* small areas of london and
it's possible to park much more cheaply or free elsewhere.
I tend to drive to london and then park on the outskirts and get a tube in
as it costs a fraction of the cost of a train for three or four people.
