Hello. I'm going to be making the journey from Epsom to Cheltenham
(and back again of course) a few times over the next month or so, and
I'm after some advice on the fastest way to do this rather indirect
journey.
From the looks of things, the train seems to be an option by going via
Paddington, but this takes over 4 hours!
Sadly I can't simply go in the car, as my car is on it's last legs and
I wouldn't trust it to get me there and back without some sort of
issue. However, I have some friends dotted about the London area who I
could drive to and catch a train from their local station, but this
would only be useful if it opens up a much more direct route.
Basically, the bottom line of this question I guess is what is the
quickest way to get from London to Cheltenham without a car?
Kind Regards,
Matt

Ask on uk.railway and you might get more useful answers.

Replace the car, bangernomics will work out cheaper than trains.

I have just looked. On the first results screen I got a single fare
of £10.50 on one journey. It was via London.
I can't be bothered to look and see if there are faster journeys by
bus and train.

Timed right such a journey would only involve one change of train,
as there are direct trains between Reading and Cheltenham (though
they may be infrequent).

Just to throw an idea out there, is flying an option?
