This raises some very interesting questions as it appears to show an
ex-policeman motorist being subjected to the same police persecution
as many a peaceful demonstrator. Was it because his job used to be
investigating the conduct of police officers or why, as a motorist
member of the privileged mass car culture, didn't he get preferential
treatment over a gang of yobs? I'll leave the motorists who dominate
this transport newsgroup to decide.
"A retired police officer bravely challenged yobs when a beer can was
thrown at his car - only to be arrested himself and thrown in a cell.
Former Inspector Paul Lawson, 52, had intended to make a citizen's
arrest, but backed down when the youths threatened to kill him and
smash up his vehicle.
He reported the incident to two police officers on patrol, but they
refused to take action..."
"...He was asked to go to the police station in Morpeth - and, to his
intense surprise, arrested on the spot.
Mr Lawson was interviewed, held in a cell for two hours, and had his
fingerprints and a DNA sample taken before he was released on bail.

Not transport-related. The fact that the guy was in his car does NOT make it
relevant to a transport newsgroup.

Doesn't surprise me. The inmates are currently running this asylum
called Britain.
