Told you so!

"...This means we need to begin the long overdue task of breaking our
reliance on the power source of fossil fuels. Governments and
businesses need to invest heavily in sustainable energy sources, such
as wind turbines, solar and wave power. And there must be a concerted
effort from all of us to conserve energy..."

Like was pointed out yesterday, this is not a news article, it's someone's
opinion, nothing more.

Gosh, it's a good job we've got you on this newsgroup, Gollum.
Without you, none of us would be aware of the recent massive increases
in the price of oil. Nor would we be aware of the possibility that
these are part of a permanent shift in the price of oil.

Thanks, Gollum - I don't know what us simple folk would do without you.

Luckily for Doug, since he doesn't drive fuel price rises hardly affect him
at all

Note that last word "opinion" hence there's no "told you so" about it,
you've simply found someone else making a statement that you agree with.
For the moment and subject to your usual shift of position when the wind

It particularly amused me that Gollum did a "told you so" when Anatole
Kaletsky wrote a piece with which he agreed. I somehow doubt that
Dung and the Times' economics editor would agree on, well, anything
else actually, but Dung just overlooks little things like that.

Indeed. What really creases me is that Dung assumes we are all as
skint as he is. What he seems not to understand is that some of us
actually "go to work", and "earn a living". Therefore increases in
prices, whilst obviously having an impact, are not hurting us(*) half
as much as they must be hurting him.
